Dear Broken Top Women Golfers,
We are almost to the end of our first month of organized ladies day golf and from looking at the tee sheet it has been a huge success. I see those pink slots filling up fast every week. The weather man has been kind to us this spring allowing us to at least be outdoors and without our long underwear.
I know there have been a lot of questions regarding competition golf, dues and tournaments for this season. As we all know things seem to be changing daily but fortunately life seems to be easing up a bit.
First, I would like to address the issue of dues. Broken Top Club has been very generous the last two years in funding the BTWGA and the club planned on doing that again this year. However, with the uncertainty of Covid 19 and the clubhouse closure, the decision was made in March not to fund us. Saying that, the BTWGA Board decided to not charge dues this season as we aren’t sure what we are going to be able to do as far as tournaments. There has been a lot of positive talk about people wanting to go back to individual dues. The BTWGA will keep you posted on how we will go forward next season at a later date.
Secondly, unfortunately we have made the decision to cancel the member/ member in late June. With Kate Brown’s implementation of Phase one we are not suppose to have gatherings larger than 25 people. But we are going to continue to watch the restrictions and as soon as life loosens up a bit we can organize the member/member at the drop of the hat possibly in July or August. Be assured we really would like to make that our priority as soon as it is possible. It might look a little different but we will definitely have a lot of fun being all together again.
Lastly, we are going to implement competition play starting the first Thursday in June. Since the Proshop can’t handle score cards we will be using the Golf Genius app. The Silvers & Bandits have been using this app and it is working beautifully. The Proshop will register a BTWGA group ID number for us. On Thursday you will find the ID number of the day and enter it into your Golf Genius app. Then you will need to record your score hole by hole. At the end of the day the Proshop will do our tallying for us. To be eligible for the competition all you need to do is tell the Proshop and they will charge your account five dollars. We do need a minimum of (8) players in the game. Sweeps will be given in club credit. The Proshop has a handout with the directions on how to get started.
That is all for now. I look forward to a great season this summer.
